St Gabriel's Court, Manchester

Client: Mclaren Construction

Summit Marine Scaffolding successfully delivered the full scaffolding package for McLaren Construction Limited on the £30 million St Gabriel’s Court student accommodation development in Manchester. The project, delivered by McLaren Construction Midlands and North on behalf of McLaren Property, comprised the restoration of three heritage buildings — St Gabriel’s Lodge, the 1963 Chapel, and Woodthorpe Hall — alongside the construction of two new four- and five-storey student accommodation blocks. The 321-bed development provides a mix of studio apartments, cluster bedrooms, and communal amenities, contributing to the regeneration of the local area near the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Summit Marine Scaffolding played a critical role in enabling safe and efficient access for both the refurbishment and new build elements across this complex, multi-structure site. Working within the tight logistical constraints of the city-centre location, the Summit team designed and erected bespoke scaffolding solutions that accommodated the site’s heritage features, including ornate façades, curved windows, and retained stonework. The company’s expertise in heritage-sensitive access solutions ensured minimal impact on the preserved structures while maintaining safety and efficiency standards throughout. Through close coordination with McLaren Construction’s site management team and adherence to the project’s just-in-time delivery approach, Summit Marine Scaffolding contributed to the successful and timely completion of St Gabriel’s Court
