Tranmere Rovers are back in the Football League after a dramatic Conference play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
Thousands of supporters, dubbed the Super White Army, travelled down to the capital today to watch James Norwood score a late winner against Boreham Wood - after their team went down to 10 men from the first minute.
For 90 minutes the game was full of twists and turns - all three of Rovers substitutes were used by half-time with one being forced off after a bottle, believed to be thrown by one of the southern team’s fans, hit him in the head.
Andy Cook headed home early on for the Wirral team however they conceded eight minutes into extra time in the first half with Bruno Andrade slotting in.
The heroic players were rewarded for their efforts however with James Norwood scoring 10 minutes before the final whistle to earn his side a promotion to League Two with many believing Tranmere were “back where they belong”.
Thousands of people from the world of football took to social media to congratulate TRFC with famous ex-players, fans and the public alike praising Tranmere for the performance.
